現在の研究課題

知的な問題がないのに、文字の読み書きに困難を示す発達性ディスレクシアの障害メカニズムの解明と指導法開発を主な研究テーマとしています。発達性ディスレクシアがある日本語母語話者が第二言語として英語を学習する場合、日本語の読み書き以上に大きな困難が生じます。日本語ではあまり困難を感じなかったのに、英語の学習が始まって、大きな戸惑い・混乱を感じることもあります。小学校での英語教育が開始されました。ディスレクシアのある子どもたちの英語での困難さをなるべく早く見出して、支援するにはどうしたらよいか、目下研究をしています。

Current Research Interest

My main research themes are to clarify the mechanism of developmental dyslexia, which is a disorder that causes difficulties in reading and writing, even though there are no intellectual problems, and to develop teaching methods. When Japanese native speakers with developmental dyslexia learn English as a second language, they encounter greater difficulties than with reading and writing in Japanese. They may feel very confused and disoriented when they start learning English, even though they didn't have much trouble with Japanese. English education has started in elementary schools. We are currently researching how to identify and support children with dyslexia who are having difficulties with English as early as possible.
