ことばのトップダウン処理 Top-down Processing of Words

話を聞いたり、文章を読んだりするときには、それまでの文脈から、次にどんなことばが来るかを予測しながら理解しています。そのため、前のことばと関連がないことばと比べて、関連のあることばに対しては読みが速くなります。この現象はプライミング効果と呼ばれています。また、脳の活動を測ると、文脈と合うことばを処理するときと比べて、文脈と合わないことばを処理するときには活動が大きく、処理の負荷が大きいことがわかります。
When we listen to a story or read a text, based on the previous context, we understand it by predicting what words will come next. For this reason, we respond faster to related words than to words that are unrelated to the previous words. This phenomenon is called the priming effect. When brain activity is measured, it is found that there is greater activity and a greater processing load when processing words that do not fit the context, compared to when processing words that fit the context.
