声帯は左右両側にある二枚のひだからなります。肺から出た気流の圧力により、これらが振動して音を出します。音の音程（高低）や音色は喉の大きさや筋肉、肺の気流量により変わってきます。

The vocal cords consist of two folds on right and left. With the pressure of airflow from the lungs, these folds vibrate to create sounds. The interval (high and low) and tone change with the size of the throat, muscles, and airflow in the lungs.
