長く中学の音楽の教師をしてきましたが、2011年に舌癌の手術を受け、声が出せなくなりました。今は音楽教師時のスキルを活かしながら歌を教えています。声は出せなくても、みなさんの歌が向上していくのが一番の喜びになっています。

I was a junior high school music teacher for a long time, but I lost my voice due to tongue cancer surgery in 2011. Currently, I give voice lessons using skills acquired as a music teacher. I can no longer use my own voice, but it is my greatest joy to see my students’ singing improve.

最初はしゃべれなくなる事が不安でした。言葉で会話できた時のように、日常生活で「細かい内容」を常に伝えるのはやはりムリですが、全部伝えなくてもいい、本質だけ伝われば良しとしています。病気になってから、あの時どうだったとか伝える事ができなくなるのでその時のことが伝わるようにと毎日の記録をノートに書くようになりました。そのノートが今年は50冊目になりました。
At first I was worried that I would not be able to speak again. It is still impossible to convey the “details” in daily life as when I was able to speak with words. I don’t need to tell everything, but I’m happy if I can convey the essence of what I want to say. After I became ill, I started writing daily records in a notebook so that I would be able to tell how I was feeling at that time. This year, I have written in 50 notebooks.
